Duties and Responsibilities: 

Leadership:
Encourages high-performance and excellence of department managers and staff within the division and the delivery of high-quality services.
Demonstrates a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Works continually to enhance the diversity of the College and the division.
Fosters and supports SLCC’s culture of Employee Engagement and Everyday Excellence.
Supervises, trains, motivates, and serves as a mentor to administrators and staff within the Student Affairs division.
Builds strong relationships with internal departments and stakeholders, both within and outside the division.
Provides leadership to an effective college-wide group of taskforces and standing committees under the student services division.
Identifies appropriate professional development opportunities for staff, including those which may be delivered internally for the benefit of the entire division.
Plans and actively participates in administrative team meetings, as well as staff and directors’ meetings.
Assesses and coordinates college-wide activities and initiatives with various constituent stakeholders impacting student services.
Receives and responds to concerns related to supervised departments, which include, but not limited to, student complaints, and general customer service.

Student Services:
Leads and supports enrollment, student life, student development, student success, and outreach efforts and programs of the college.
Leads and coordinates college-wide strategic Retention and Completion initiatives annually.
Creates a unified and coordinated approach to effectively serve students, faculty, and staff.
Embraces opportunities to reimagine and reconstruct how ALL student services are delivered on an ongoing basis, while also embracing technological advances.
Incorporates best practices into all assigned areas and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.
Employ rigorous data analytics to guide decision making and ensure service deliveries align with the college’s strategic plan.
Develops and coordinates ALL student publications, website updates, policies, procedures, trainings, and related reports.

Administration/Operations:
Manages overall operations and makes major decisions affecting the student services area.
Supports the college’s hiring process through search committee activities and ensures the student affairs division demonstrates an equal opportunity process.
Continually reviews and improves processes to ensure departments are effectively and efficiently meeting the expectations of the college and the communities served.
Manages the financial resources of the student services area and effectively advocates for resources; participates in the budget development and approves departmental budget items consistent with SLCC policy and procedures.
Manages and monitors staff activities and complete employee performance reviews and professional development planning annually.
Works collaboratively with the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs to development and implement division-wide staff development programs and trainings.
Conduct needs analysis of equipment, technology, and facilities, and make recommendations to the Vice Chancellor.
Serves as the college’s Judicial Officer in support of conduct, grievances, and reporting.
Develops, leads, coordinates, and monitors all grant related initiatives for student services. Collaborates regularly with the Director of Grants to identify opportunities that align with both the college’s strategic plan, departmental strategic plans, and community needs.


Institutional Effectiveness: 
Develops and coordinates strategic planning activities for the student services division.
Engages and monitors all Employee Engagement and Service Excellence survey activities for the student affairs division.
Coordinates and supports college-wide and program accreditation activities for the student affairs division.
Coordinates ALL student services assessment and survey inventories (Noel Levitz, CCSSE, CCCSE, etc).

External Relations:
Foster and develop strong relationships with K-12, postsecondary institutions, and businesses & industry partners.
Represent the college at external meetings and functions.
Serves as an active participant on the LCTCS CSAO Committee, as well as other state and national organizations as assigned.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Vice Chancellor or Chancellor.
Predictable and reliable attendance is required to provide consistency and continuity of educational and business services.
Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education: 

Master's Degree

 

Required Experience: 

Five (5) years of supervisory experience in higher education.

 

Required Licenses or Certifications: 

Unencumbered active driver’s license

 

Preferred Education: 

Doctoral degree

 

Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.
