Adjunct Instructor - Architecture and Facility Management Multiple Locations
The Architecture and Facility Management Department seeks applications for a part-time, temporary adjunct faculty position. Responsibilities involve teaching one or more courses in the following degree programs: AAS in Architectural Technology, or BS in Architecture and Sustainability, or BS in Facility Management. In addition to the more common topics associated with the degree programs, experience in architectural design, construction detailing and documents utilizing AutoCAD and Revit, digital architectural presentation utilizing software such as Revit, Formit, Autodesk 3DS Max, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, and/or experience in Facility Management, will be considered. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses (either in Big Rapids or Grand Rapids) or other approved FSU sites. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2026 at the earliest and January 2027 at the latest.
Adjunct Instructor - Exercise Science Big Rapids, MI 49307
Potential courses include Introduction to Exercise Science, Introduction to Fitness and Wellness, and First Aid and Emergency Management via lecture and laboratory classes for students for the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science degree. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed on a semester-by-semester basis. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2026 at the earliest and January of 2027 at the latest. However, these are estimated dates and can be revised if needed.
Adjunct Instructor - Social Work Multiple Locations
The Social Work Department seeks applications for semester-by-semester instructors to teach across both the BSW and MSW curriculum, on an as-needed basis. Teaching opportunities will be on the Big Rapids and/or Traverse City campus. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. This posting is used for face-to-face instruction. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University’s campuses. The successful candidate(s) will teach a range of undergraduate social work courses, including interviewing skills, macro practice, child welfare, and field education. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The start date of this position is August 2026 and/or January 2027 at the latest.
Assistant/Associate Professor - College of Optometry (12 mos. Tenure-track) Big Rapids, MI 49307
The Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University seeks a diverse group of outstanding applicants for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position. The candidate will be expected to develop in the areas of patient care, didactic teaching, advising, scholarly/professional activities, and service and will be responsible for teaching primarily in clinic, with additional responsibilities in the laboratory and classroom. Candidates are expected to foster a meaningful learning experience for our students; faculty are expected to be student-oriented, advise, and integrate current technology into the learning environment. Additionally, faculty will participate in collaborative efforts to foster curricular efforts, participate in assessment of student learning, and further develop programmatic enhancement. Specifically, we expect the candidate to be willing to engage students outside the classroom, support and expand our existing academic initiatives, and be willing to mentor students beyond a traditional academic advising role. In support of teaching, candidates will engage in scholarly/professional activities and participate in department, college, and university committees. Online teaching could be required but primarily, courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at the Big Rapids location. Hall Director Big Rapids, MI 49307
Hall Director- Housing and Residence Life– Ferris State University. Provide comprehensive supervision of 1-3 residence halls (typically two). Hall Directors recruit, train, supervise, and mentor residence hall staff, 6-17 Resident Advisors, 1-3 Senior Staff Advisors and 15-30 front desk and night security personnel; actively participate on departmental and university-wide committees, manage facilities, advise Hall Council; train RA staff to advise House Councils; coordinate programming/community development and provide overall leadership in the academic, social and emotional development of students. In addition, Hall Directors serve as conduct hearing officers recommending educational outcomes up to and including dismissal from the university.
