Assistant Professor of Design Big Rapids, MI 49307
Assistant Professor of Design – Ferris State University. The Design Program has a long and successful history of preparing graduates for Design careers, excelling as Graphic Designers, Interaction Designers, UX Designers, Product Designers, and more. The program is uniquely situated in the College of Business and addresses the importance of communication, community, and business context. The selected candidate must be able to teach multiple subject areas within all levels of the design curriculum as well as courses serving non-design majors. Additionally, the selected candidate will excel in the areas of graphic design, brand identity design, and the creation of desirable and useful user experience, as well as work with digital design technology that meets the demands of the current professional design practice. Focus on student-centered learning, engage in a collaborative teaching environment, participate in the design community, and stress the importance of self-discovery, peer learning, and collaboration within the classroom. This is a full-time position on the main campus in Big Rapids. The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2024 at the earliest and January of 2025 at the latest. Required: BFA/BS in Design related discipline. Pursuit of masters in related discipline. Completion of masters required within a set time frame determined at time of hire. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communication design, art direction, and the technology tools that meet the demands of the current professional design practice in print and digital media. Demonstrated interest in creating and evaluating design curriculum. Demonstrate involvement in professional organizations and community service. Must be technically proficient in tools and software.
Part-Time Residential Dining Services Big Rapids, MI 49307
Part-Time Residential Dining Services – Ferris State University. This position provides support in a residential food service operation working up to 28 hours a week. Duties include greeting customers, processing meal plans, cash and credit card transactions utilizing a point of sales system, and assisting with production and service of food as needed. Individuals in this position will be exposed to all food types (ex. shellfish, peanuts, & fruit) in an environment where industrial strength cleaners are used. Adjunct Instructor 1- Recreation Management Leisure Services – Ferris State University. Adjunct Instructor 1 - Heavy Equipment - Ferris State University. The College of Engineering Technology is seeking adjunct instructors to teach Heavy Equipment courses. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. This posting is being used for face to face and/or online instruction. However, the candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. Qualification by Credential: master’s degree in Heavy Equipment or Automotive Engineering or a related discipline OR a master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in Heavy Equipment or Automotive Engineering or related discipline. Qualification by Tested Experience: bachelor’s degree in Heavy Equipment Service Engineering Technology or Equivalent degree. Minimum of three years full-time experience in the Heavy Equipment Service field or teaching in a Heavy Equipment related setting, within the previous five years.
