Summary of Position: |
This position will assist coaches in identifying at risk student-athletes and supporting academic advisors in assisting athletes in finding services available both on and off campus to help them be more successful in the classroom. This position will be responsible for documenting and collecting data related to student-athlete success focusing on the academic achievement gap of minority student-athletes as compared to other student athletes, all minority students, and the general student population. Pursuant to FSU-HRPP 2005:44, "Students currently admitted on a full-time basis, defined as carrying at least 9 credits per semester, to a Ferris State University graduate program and earning credits toward a graduate degree, may qualify for a Graduate Project Assistant (GPA) position". |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
*Work with Navigate to track athlete’s academic progress *Document and collect data related to student-athlete academic success specifically around achievement gap of minority student athletes *Support Academic Advisors for at risk student-athletes in finding services available both on and off campus to help student-athletes be more successful in the classroom *Attend University provided training as directed. *Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically. *Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. |

Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: |
*Attend university DSAA meetings as necessary *Provide back up assistance to other staff |

Skills and Abilities: |
*Ability to work with diverse constituents from student-athletes to academic advisors and university administration. *Ability to multi-task, coordinate work efforts, meet deadlines and successfully complete detailed work. *Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. |
